Memorial Day Weekend

1979 - U.S. Navy Submarine School, Groton, CT

1979 - Boot Camp - San Diego, CA

1980 - Where would a sailor eat dinner?

Just a few personal reminder pix of the real reason we have this ‘holiday’ weekend…

As you go through the weekend, please remember the men and women who serve and have served and have sacrificed to make this type of celebration possible.  The men and women of our Armed Forces, who have chosen to stand in harm’s way so that we might enjoy the peace and freedom we so preciously have today.

I was in the Navy from 1979 - 1986.  A Submarine sailor proudly serving on the USS Henry L Stimson — Gold crew —  (a ballistic missile sub, now decommissioned - and probably cut up to make razor blades…), as well as the USNS Bowditch and the USNS Range Sentinel.

My Dad was a soldier in the U.S. Army - here are a couple pictures of him - I was so very proud of this man and grateful to call him ‘dad.’

Dad wad in the middle here - Sgt. Charles O Pruitt

Retired - after 20+ years in the U.S. Army.  I loved this man and miss him greatly. He passed away this past November (2009).  I wish you could have know him.
