Workouts and Toss-outs

Progress… got fewer workouts in than I wanted this week.  Did body conditioning exercises - push-ups, body rows, squats, lunges, some core work with planks and rollouts on my power wheel from Monkey Bar Gym.

I did not get any pool time, which is okay for this week because the planned yardage was so limited anyway.  Got my walking-to-build-to-running done, including one mile-and-a-quarter neighborhood loop with my mini-Yorkie… we did stop frequently during the first 1/4-mile as he felt it was necessary to try and “mark” all the trees along the route.  Eventually, just kept tension on his leash and said, “Walk, Sammy.”

No bicycling this week, but agian, as the ramp-up distance for the week was only one mile - no problem making it up next week.

Diet progressing okay - still more carbs than I want this week; but some good meal periods of eggs, and a “tuna special” of 5-oz. white albacore tuna packed in water (drained), mixed with a couple of teaspoons of mayonnaise, a few squirts of mustard, a teaspoon of dill relish, and a couple of shakes of Tabasco sauce - all mixed together with a fork and eaten as is… with a large glass of iced tea.

Tonight, my wife grilled us some steaks (filet mignon - rare, just the way we both like it), I baked some small dutch potatoes, cut in half and seasoned with olive oil, and some other herbs and spices and baked in the oven until the bottoms and edges were nice and crispy.  Again, all washed down with iced tea. Yum.

I also spent some more time going through my clothes, old cassette tapes, and some sporting goods equipment.  Made a couple of more goodie bags for Goodwill donation and to give away to others.  It gets easier each time I go through my “stuff” to see what I’m actually using and what I can let go of without any regrets.

I’m still sorting through my books - I was hoping to find a used book store that buys used books to resale - but of several in my area that I called, none do that sort of thing anymore.  If I can’t find some way to make a few cents off them, I’ll probably just donate them to my local library.  We’ll see.

Fourteen weeks to go until the Sprint Triathlon; need to begin to really focus on getting the proper training sessions in.  I’m putting them in my Day-Timer To-do List / Appointment scheduling to help me emphasis the importance of taking care of myself as well as my clients and prospects.

Okay, it’s late and tomorrow is Father’s Day.  My dad passed away last November so this is going to be a particularly somber one for me; God, I really miss him.

But my wife’s dad, who is 87 as of this month, is still with us so we are going to go to his house after church services.  He decided he wanted steaks for his Father’s Day meal and went out yesterday and bought a portable (large, but ‘portable’) grill and wants us to baptize it with him Sunday afternoon. Steak, again?  Well, okay, if you insist.  I mean, it’s Father’s Day and we wouldn’t want to disappoint him.
